Audition Instructions:
Our rehearsals require a commitment by all cast members FOR EVERY SHOW AND THE MONTH OF THE SHOW AT EVERY ALL CAST CALLED REHEARSAL. (Please note: A conflict doesn't necessarily keep you from being cast but it is imperative to list any conflict you may have for the month of April so that we can make plans that are in the best interest of the show.) However, until the last month of rehearsal, the level of time needed varies depending on the role in which one is cast. Once the show is cast in its entirety, a "To Be CALLED" (TBC) schedule will be released with primary rehearsal blocks Wednesday late afternoon & evening, Thursday late afternoon & evening, Friday late afternoon & evening. This means that some characters will only be needed on Fridays through February for choreography rehearsals WHILE Primarily Principal roles (featured significant roles in the production) may be called 2-3 days of the week rehearsal block.
There will be 1-2 ALL CAST CALLED MANDATORY Saturday afternoon rehearsals in February, March and April approximate hours 1-3 or longer in April for full runs and tech rehearsals.
Please list any conflicts on your AUDITION FORM.
For the Production of "Mean Girls, Jr.", the Principal roles in order of "TBC" priority will be as follows:
Cady Heron: FEMALE, LEAD, Vocal: Mezzo-Soprano G2-E5. STRONG VOICE, ACTOR AND MOVES WELL. Arrives at North Shore High a clueless transfer student but is quickly wrapped up in brutal social politics. Though at her core Cady is levelheaded, self- assured, and kind, when she goes undercover with the Plastics, she becomes unrecognizable.
Damian Hubbard: MALE LEAD, Vocal: Tenor Bb3-G5. STRONG VOICE AND ACTOR, MOVES WELL. Co-chair of the Student Activities Committee and Janis's best friend. Damian is smart, witty and confident and occasionally serves as the show's narrator.
Janis Sarkisian: FEMALE LEAD, Vocal: Mezzo-Soprano A3-D5. STRONG VOICE AND ACTOR. Marches to the beat of her own drum and, with Damian, narrates throughout the show. After a falling-out with Regina in middle school, she became a bit of a social outcast and still holds a grudge against Regina. Damian is her best friend and lovingly refers to her as his "art freak".
Regina George: FEMALE LEAD, VOCAL: Mezzo-Soprano. Ab3-Eb5. STRONG VOICE, ACTING, AND MOVEMENT. The undisputed Queen Bee of North Shore High School, and she knows it. She's confident, clever, and completely unbothered by anyone else's opinion. While Regina purposefully manipulates everyone around her, at heart, she's trying to fit in, just like everyone else.
Gretchen Weiners: FEMALE SUPPORTING LEAD. Mezzo-Soprano. G2-E5. Strong Voice, Acting and movement. Regina's stressed out second in command. As much as Regina appears not to care what people think, Gretchen cares very much and she's especially paranoid when it comes to Regina.
Karen Smith: FEMALE SUPPORTING LEAD. Mezzo-Soprano. G2-D#5. The third member of the Plastics. While Karen's lack of intelligence is a running joke throughout the show, she sees the other girls more clearly than most people and is the most laid back of the three.
Aaron Samuels: MALE SUPPORTING LEAD. VOCAL RANGE B3-E5.
A nice guy who has no idea that he's the high school heartthrob. Although he doesn't enjoy the drama of high school social politics, he gets used as a pawn between Cady and Regina though he genuinely likes Cady.
Ms. Norbury: FEMALE SUPPORTING. EXCELLENT ACTOR. OLDER CAST MEMBER. Cady's homeroom and calculus teacher, and she oversees the Mathletes. Though she is a bit jaded and more than a little sarcastic, Ms. Norbury sees the real Cady and encourages her to be herself. She brings it all together in the second Act for all the Jr. level girls.
Shane Oman -supporting ltd. (soloist)
Kevin G. -supportin ltd. (rapper type soloist). ** Can be male or female.
Other characters will be double cast as single soloists/ ensemble, and members of the student body. Cheerleaders, Dance, Mathletes, Debate etc....
